HeHalutz (Hebrew: the pioneer movement) was the umbrella association for the Zionist youth organisations that organised the Jewish immigration to Palestine and the preparations hereof (Hakhshara). The German national association HeHalutz was founded on 16th December 1922 in Berlin, for the purpose of preparing for a work life in Palestine. Anybody who was willing to learn an agricultural, manual or other profession that was instantaneously required in order to build Palestine, and was compliant to be integrated in a Palestine workmanship, was accepted as a member. Among other tasks was working with the Hakhshara in Germany: Boosting the chaluzim (pioneers), helping them in their professions and in learning the Hebrew language, acquisition of loans, providing for travel to Palestine, selecting pioneers, arranging for visa etc.
